INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups of Chana dal soaked for 6-7 hours.
- 1/4th tsp Hing
- 1tsp Red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Black salt
- 1 ½ inch Ginger
- 2 tbsp whole Coriander seeds of crushed
- 3-4 Green chillies
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1/4th cup finely chopped Coriander leaves
- Salt (according to taste)
- Oil (for frying)
METHOD
Was the soaked dal and put it on the sieve to drain out the excess water.
Keep aside 2 tbsp dal.
Take a big bowl.
Add the rest of the dal, ginger, green chillies and jeera.
Blend it coarsely in a grinder.
Take the mixture in a bowl and add the hing, red chilli powder, black salt, crushed coriander, coriander leaves, salt, the 2 tbsp soaked dal and mix well.
Take a portion of the mixture and flatten it into a large vada.
Fry the vadas to light golden.
Take them off the oil and cut them into stripes.
Cut 1 vada into 3 pieces.
Fry them again to golden brown.
Garnish with chaat masala and coriander.
Serve as a starter or snack with green chutney/tomato ketchup/schezwan chutney.
